Summer often brings pressure to stay busy and “make the most of it,” but it can also be a chance to slow down and reconnect with yourself. Self-care doesn’t have to be complicated, it can be as simple as rest, fresh air, or doing the thing that brings you the most joy!
This season is also a great time to build small, supportive routines. Taking a walk, journaling, or spending a quiet moment outdoors can be grounding. Connecting with others in low-pressure ways, like a casual check-in or small gathering, can also bring a sense of balance and support. Going to places this summer like the pool, beach or amusement parks can bring a sense of fun and excitment!
Caring for our skin
Along with caring for your mental and emotional well-being, don’t forget your skin! Daily SPF is one of the most important steps in any skincare routine, especially during the summer months. Sun exposure can lead to premature aging, hyperpigmentation, and long-term skin damage, even on the cloudiest days.
A broad-spectrum SPF 30 or 50 is a great place to start. If you prefer something lightweight, look for gel-based or water-based sunscreens. For sensitive or acne-prone skin, mineral SPFs with zinc oxide can be a gentle option. And if you’re on the go, SPF sticks or sprays can make reapplication easier throughout the day. These are a couple of my favorites!
Most importantly, approach this summer in a way that feels good to you. You don’t have to do everything, just what supports your well-being, inside and out! And being sure to stay cool!
