Discord Peer Support Drop-in hours!

Are you a young person in CT looking for peer support? Our peer support specialist, Quinn, is live on Discord Monday, Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday evenings from 7-9pm Eastern Time. Peer support is free, voluntary, and confidential.

What to expect

Join our Discord server, agree to the community guidelines, choose your roles, and get access to a variety of channels! Quinn will be in the peer support voice channel to listen, offer validation and support, share resources, offer connection, answer questions, and more. As a participant, you decide what you’d like to talk about and what kind of support feels best. Drop in anytime between 7pm and 9pm!

What peer support is

Peer support is collaborative and mutual. Participants and I are constantly learning and growing alongside each other. That means that both the peer supporter and the participant are building trust and deciding what that looks like together. The first thing I tell any participant that I meet with is “I don’t expect you to trust me right away, and I don’t want you to trust me right away. I want to earn your trust and I want us to decide together what that looks like.”

Peer support is really about conversation, giving and taking, and moving towards. Through conversation, we learn about how we view the world and the ways we operate in it. Curiosity invites conversations to learn about each other, our experiences, our similarities, what feels generative and connecting, and what we each need from the relationship. Participants define their own goals, and peer supporters are here to walk with folks on their journey towards achieving those goals.
