Back To School Tips

Summer break is coming to an end which means it’s almost time for the next school year to begin. Whether you’re entering middle school, high school, or college, you might find yourself feeling those back to school nerves. I wanted to take this opportunity to share a few things I used to do to help me prepare for first day of school and beyond! Everything listed will be things that you can do the night before to set yourself up for success in the morning.

Getting An Outfit Together

When I was in school, I wanted to look fly the first day. Wearing clothes that boosted my self-esteem and felt comfortable would definitely help with that. This is something I strongly encourage you to do the night before. It can take time to find something that speaks to you, so doing this the night before will definitely save time in the morning.

Packing a Lunch

This one can be tricky sometimes. If you tend to eat colder foods, then packing something the previous night should be alright. However, like me, you might prefer hot food. In that case, you can still get everything else together, including putting the hot food in a Tupperware. That way, in the morning, you can quickly zap it in the microwave and put it with everything else you’ve already packed.

Alternatively, some people might not even bring lunch from home. Rather, they may eat the food that is offered in the school cafeteria. In that case, packing a lunch isn’t something to worry about.

Showering

I’ve seen many conversations debating morning showers versus night showers. In my opinion, both can be good depending on the circumstances. In this case, I would recommend a night shower.

Showering at night during the school is another thing that will save a lot of time the next morning. As someone who takes long showers, I can attest to this. Plus, it’s good to wash the day’s germs off.

Going to Bed Earlier

After doing the previous things, getting to sleep a little earlier can help decrease you amount of fatigue you might have in the morning. In addition, the nerves you might feel might delay when you are actually able to fall asleep, so getting into bed earlier than usual can allow the nerves to subside earlier, leading to you falling asleep earlier.

Setting An Alarm

One of the hardest things about going to school is having to wake up so early. All you want to do is stay in bed and get more rest. So much so, that you might risk losing track of time. Therefore, setting an alarm to off can help wake you up. Furthermore, to help ensure you actually get out of bed instead of pressing snooze, you can put the alarm on the other side of the your room so that you have to get out of bed to turn it off.
