Janus Center for Youth in Crisis
Provides intervention services for conflicted youth and their families and respite care. Services include a 24 hour Hotline and “wrap around” services of counseling, case management, mentoring, academic assistance and advocacy. Agency participates in “Safe Places,” a network of businesses and public locations that display the Safe Place logo on their premises. Any youth in trouble knows that he or she can enter a location bearing this sign and request help. An employee will provide the youth with a secure place to wait while the local youth shelter is contacted. The shelter then dispatches a trained on-call volunteer to the Safe Place site to offer assistance. The crisis is evaluated to identify and support the best option for the youth – going home, staying with a family member or friend or pursuing short term host home placement.
